THE GIFT OF LIFE
As of yet, I haven't been able to write of the circumstances of Geoff's death. I will say that he didn't die right away and was put on life support. Because of this, Geoff was able to become an organ donor and a part of him lives on.
People have described it as an "unselfish act". I thought of it as the opposite, because I didn't want "everything" of Geoff to die. I have found some comfort, knowing that a part of him LIVES on and that something positive has happened because of this tragedy. Geoff was able to help many people in his death.
In the coming days, I hope to print on this page, letters I've received from the donor recipients. I'm still waiting for their permission. By law, the organ procurement agency,can't give out names unless it's by mutual ageement.
*The following link is about a very special donor family whose precious son, Nicholas,was murdered while they were on vacation Italy. This case received alot of media attention and brought public awareness to organ donation. I remember watching this case on TV with my children, (Geoff included) and because of this, our decision to sign the consent for Geoff to become an organ donor was NOT a difficult decision. Geoff still "lives"on in those he helped.
